I was born in 1959 in South Italy (Naples area). At that time my father was a career Lieutenant in the Italian army: he died on duty five years later, leaving my mother, my younger brother and me. I’ve been educated in an environment of mixed family authority figures: my mother (working with the Italian Department of Defence), my grandpa the Barrister, my uncle the army’s General, and another uncle MD Army General, not counting my uncle town manager for 40 years and others “minor”, just professors. It was a challenging environment indeed.
At the end of the High School (I took a teaching diploma) I looked around but no Universities offered any interesting course as I was already fascinated by computing. So I started a Pedagogy course, but after a while I dropped it to start a more interesting work experience in computing. I began as apprentice developer on a PDP 11/45 machine: I was paid by the lines. That was the beginning of my career as IT Consultant. From there I never stopped learning and advancing, focusing all my spare time on studying the most recent technologies and theories.
This is not a C.V. but let me just note that before my current position (leading the R&D in Autentys Intl) I’ve been for a few years CIO and R&D Leader for the French Intecom/NTCE in La Seine-sur-Mer, near Toulon. I’m with Autentys since May 1998.
My wife and I decided to move to Ireland in 2004 because Italy is no more a place to raise children safely, so we moved and we are quite happy with that decision: the children are very happy too, so this country is definitely our final destination.
